Gavin's surgery was yesterday and it went very well, according to the doctor. The night before his surgery, he slept with me and woke up in the middle of the night crying out in pain. He did this on and off for a few hours. When he woke up the next morning, I noticed he had some drainage coming from his left ear. Apparently, his eardrum ruptured in the middle of the night. Which explains the relief in pain. Since the pressure was causing the pain, the rupture relieved the pressure, which in turn relieved the pain. Thankfully, he shouldn't experience any long term damage. He is resting at home today, and will return to school tomorrow!
Chad left Sunday to go to work in the Galveston, TX area. We will hopefully be going to visit him this weekend! Unfortunately, he didn't get to go on Gavin's field trip to Liuzza Farms because it was cancelled due to rain. But hopefully the rain is gone for a while!

Good News, Bad News
Good News? Chad is home from New Mexico. He got here Friday afternoon after a long long drive.
Bad News? He's headed to South Texas this weekend for 4-6 weeks. Atleast we'll be able to visit on the weekends and Gavin's school holidays. South Texas isn't nearly as far as New Mexico!
We're making the best of his time home. Saturday we went to his sister's 29th birthday party and Sunday we boiled crawfish with some good friends! Yummmm......Chad makes some of the best boiled crawfish I've ever eaten, so it's just not "Crawfish Season" until he boils a pot (or two!)
Unfortunately, on his drive home, his truck broke down his way home and it's at the Dodge dealership in Alexandria, LA getting diagnosed and hopefully fixed really soon! Thankfully, he wasn't too far from home and his dad was able to go get him!
We have other things planned for the week while he is home as well. We'll for sure take the kids to eat at Hooter's (yes, Hooter's!) because Luke has been dying to go there and swears his daddy will take him! lol Friday is Gavin's class field trip, and Chad and I will get to attend! It will be Chad's first field trip with Gavin and Gavin will be so happy he gets to go!

Surgery Scheduled
Gavin's surgery has been scheduled for Monday, February 25, pending his blood work. Typically, they surgery he is getting doesn't require blood work, but with his past history of autoimmune hemolytic anemia, his hematologist suggested a complete CBC and if everything is ok, we'll go ahead with the surgery as planned. If is he is anemic, he'll need to go on steroids. I took him Friday for blood work. Fingers crossed that it will come back ok!

Cupcake Love and K4AC
We took a break from decorating our float to visit the Kids for a Cure (K4AC) Relay for Life table they had set up at the parade. Gavin is a member of the team for the second year in a row! Last year, K4AC had the second highest total for the whole event, and had only been formed for a month or two! These kids are very motivated! They want to be #1 this year! They were selling all kinds of goodies, including snowballs, handmade hair flowers, magnets, hair ties, and cupcakes made by yours truly! My kids, of course, can never pass up a good cupcake!

Krewe of Denham Springs Mardi Gras Parade
Every year we have a float in the local Mardi Gras Parade. This year the theme for the Parade was Music through the Ages, and we chose the "Fabulous Fifties" as the theme for our float! So that meant all things Rock & Roll, and of course, Elvis Presley!
I wish I had taken a "before" picture of the float, because when we got to the parade, our float was solid white. NOTHING had been done to it. It took us about two hours to transform it into Fabulous for the 50s!
Kami was, of course, rocking a super cute poodle skirt!
And my handsome boys!
Gavin was a little confused on the holiday we were celebrating. Rockin' his Mardi Gras beads with an elf hat! I was glad he had that hat when the parade started, it kept his ears covered. We definitely don't need anymore ear infections!

More Surgeries....
After several ear infections in past few months, Gavin was referred to the ENT (again) for possible tubes. Our visit with the ENT was today, and he'll definitely be getting tubes, along with a sinus irrigation and a partial adenoidectomy. He can't have a full adenoidectomy because he has a bifid uvula. But hopefully removing part of his adenoids will give him some relief! I haven't got a date for the surgery just yet, but the doctor said it will take a total of 20 minutes to do all three procedures and his pain shouldn't be as bad as his tonsillectomy. So, here's hoping that the surgery will be quick, relatively painless, and get him some major relief with the ear infections, runny nose, and cough!

Park Time!
After weeks of cold and rain, it was finally warm enough and dry enough to take the kids to the park last weekend! They were very happy about being able to run and play! Now, our temps are reaching the 70s! Normally, I'd complain about a lack of winter weather, but after being cooped up in the house for such a long time, I'm just going to enjoy it! I just hope 70 degrees in January doesn't turn into 80 degrees in February!
After the park, we took them to ride their scooters at the bike trail. They got new scooters from MiMi and Pop for Christmas, and they hadn't been able to ride them much because of the rain!
