Crafting....

Thanks to the wonderful world of Pinterest, I've become quite the crafter. I made most of our Christmas gifts this year! I've never really considered myself crafty, but now that I started out making hair bows for Kami, because they were so darn expensive! I just kept moving up and up. My best friend from high school is having her first baby. Emma Rose will be here sometime in March! I wanted to make her a special baby shower gift, so I decided on a door hanger for her to take to the hospital, that will also match her nursery. It turned out perfect and I can't wait to give it to her this weekend!!

Homework in Kindergarten?

Yep. Homework in kindergarten. Gavin is half way through his kindergarten year and homework is getting tougher and Gavin HATES it. Math, he loves. He could do it all day long. Reading, not so much. Blending words seems to be giving him the most trouble. Sight words are ok, but he struggles with new words and instead of trying, he gets frustrated and we usually end up in a meltdown. They will soon begin spelling tests and he will fall even further behind because he is struggling with everything else that involves reading and writing. He know the letters. He know the sounds they make. But when it comes to blending them together to form a word, he just can't get it. But, we'll keep on keepin' on and hopefully, one day it will just "click."

Chloe is ONE!

My sweet niece Chloe turn ONE year old on January 10. Today was her birthday party! It's hard to believe it's been a whole year since she made her grand appearance into this world. Feels like she's been here forever! She so sweet and LOVES her some rubber ducks, she of course, had a rubber ducky part.!  My sister-in-law, Kristy, did an AMAZING job on the decorations! The party looked fantastic!

I just loved her little pink rubber ducky cake! It turned out perfect!

A crafty little party goer assembled these ducks in the shape of a number one! Too cute, huh?

What did I tell you! It looks amazing!

Gavin loves his babies! He thinks all the babies are here! He couldn't resist giving Chloe a birthday kiss!

She was so sweet and excited!

And, of course, covered in CAKE!

Rain, Rain, and More Rain....

It's been raining for days. As a matter of fact, our yard hasn't been dry since BEFORE Christmas. It rains for a few days, stops for a day, then rains some more. Our yard was almost completely underwater yesterday. Luckily, we got a small break for about 12 hours and the water was able to recede. But the rain started again this morning and the water is coming right back into our yard! Hopefully it will stop soon. But our forecast is calling for rain almost everyday Saturday-Thursday of next week. There are tons of roads closed all over our parish right now! Today, the rain brought some severe weather with it. I had to brave a tornado warning to take Kami to the doctor. She was feeling absolutely awful. Vomiting blood and just very pale. She has strep throat and still feels miserable! We got her on an antibiotic and zofran (for the nausea/vomiting) and hopefully she'll be feeling much better soon!

Check Up

Gavin had a check up yesterday with his immunologist. Luckily, because he's been having an increase in nasal drainage, and wheezing. He has a mild ear infection and upper respiratory infection. They put him on antibiotics and we adjusted his daily medications and hopefully everything will be resolved soon. Today was his first day back to school from Christmas Break, and he's happy to be going back to see all of his friends!

Please Meet the Newest Member of Our Family...

Hunni! "Santa Claus" brought her to Gavin, Kami, and Luke for Christmas! How awesome is Santa?! She is a dachshund, maybe miniature but I'm not sure. She sure is tiny now, that's for sure! We (and by we, I mean me) have been working diligently since we got her to potty train her! She's had very few accidents in the house! It's really like having a baby in some ways. I get up with her once or twice a night to go outside to potty. The kids love her, and she loves them! Kami carries her around almost everywhere she goes. It's too cute. I have to remind her that Hunni is a puppy and NOT a baby doll! ;) And Kami has to remind me that Santa brought Hunni to them and not me! lol She's just too sweet and we love her so much already! :)

Holy Long Time No Blog, Batman!

A lot has happened since I blogged last! I can't believe I just quit blogging. I guess keeping up with Facebook and the blog got a little difficult! But, I'm going to try and get back in the blogging game! :) Since I blogged last, we moved to Kentucky, and back again! Crazy, I know. But, now we are back in Louisiana (where I we belong,) and I couldn't be happier!

Gavin is still getting weekly SCIG (subcutaneous immunoglobulin) infusions. I would say they are better than the IVIG infusions he used to get, but really it's just a toss up. IVIG is once a month, but lasts all day long. SCIG is once a week for a little over an hour. He's not required to miss school, so it makes them more convenient. I don't really love having to be the one to subject him to his biggest fear (needles,) but I'd rather him be as healthy as possible. He's in kindergarten and exposed to every single germ you could possibly imagine. I'm not much of a germaphobe, but I continuously wipe my house down with antibacterial wipes! But, he likes school (except for that pesky school work) for the most part. He is a social butterfly, and he has plenty of room to socialize! If not for his constant runny nose and nagging cough, you'd never know anything was wrong with him!

Kami and Luke started pre-k in Kentucky. Unfortunately, they weren't able to continue in Louisiana because the cost of pre-k here is twice what we were paying in Kentucky. They were pretty bummed to leave all of their new friends, but they've adjusted well to learning things (how to write their name, the letters of the alphabet, etc.) here at home with me! Of course, they are not loving having to go grocery shopping with me (something I could do alone while they were in pre-k) but they manage!

As for me, I'm still a stay at home mom, taking care of my babies! I'm working toward my teaching certification. I was hoping to be in the certification program by the time Kami and Luke started Kindergarten so I could start teaching, but our move to Kentucky set me back a bit. I'm also hoping to get a small photography business started! Chad and the kids got me a brand new camera for Mother's Day last year and I L-O-V-E taking pictures. It really is so much fun!

I guess that's all for now! I'll leave you with an updated picture of the "Davis Babies." Not quite babies anymore!!

Oh, and Happy Belated New Year!!
