The Terrible Twos...

...are upon us. Gavin has began testing every single limit that he can think of. And he will intentionally disobey me and smirk. It makes me want to pull my hair out! He has been punished three times today. Once for standing in the buggy at Babies R Us, once for taking Kami and Luke's fork and refusing to return it, declaring it's "mine," and once for refusing to go to bed. Although, I can only assume that he will be in trouble for that again soon because it's 8:30 and he has had only about 30 minutes of a nap, and he still shows no signs of giving up the good fight.

And sleeping all night in his bed is out of the question. He comes to our room every night. If I return him to his bed, he'll just come right back after he wakes up again. I really wouldn't mind if he weren't a crazy sleeper! He kicks, tosses and turns waking both me and his daddy up. Chad has to get up early for work, so he needs to sleep and not be bothered by Gavin's restless sleeping. I have no idea how to make this child sleep all night. He wakes up about every two or three hours. Always has. And to top it off, he has began going into Kami and Luke's room simply to wake them up. He did this last night and tonight. They will be fast asleep and I'll hear through the baby monitor, "Me, Duke." (That's what he calls them.) Thankfully, they just go right back to sleep! So, here I am at 8:30, what I feel is only the beginning of my night.

have you thought about putting a baby gate on either his door or theirs? i'd try putting one on his door and see if when he gets up and sees that he can't get out if he'll just go back to bed. and if that doesnt work put of on the twins door and then at least he can't go in there and bother them

Amy, He can pull down the baby gate if he wants to. He has pulled the one into the kitchen down more than once. But, I might try putting one at Kami and Luke's door. I'm sure he wouldn't be too tempted to take it down. I think he only goes in there because he's bored.

I'm glad I found your blog! Our situation is reversed - our twins are nearly two and our singleton is 8 mos.... plus big sister who is 6. It's a crazy life, isn't it?! And I totally feel you on the terrible twos... BOTH of our twins have begun pushing any and every limit. YIKES!

Does he have his two year molars in yet? Maybe he is having some teething issues and that is causing the restless sleep?

Mine's a bad sleeper, too. =(
