Blah....Again...

It's a never ending story in the Davis household. Somebody is always sick. Today, it was Kami and Gavin. That's right, Kami had her very first 'sick' doctor's appointment. But, she didn't have to do it alone, because big brother Gavin couldn't let her steal the spotlight! (LOL) *Please don't read past here if you have a weak stomach* They both have been having severe diarrhea (I warned you) so I took them to Lake After Hours. They weren't to worried about Kami, just said to keep her hydrated, and if it got worse to take her to the ER, or to her Pedi if it was during the week. So, hydrate we are trying to do, but she won't drink more than 5 or 6 ounces at a time, and it's not as often as usual, so we try to supplement a little with grape pedialyte. She likes it! Gavin also has bad diarrhea, and he accompanied Kami to the doctor. They were a little more worried about him, because he had a worse case, and he just appeared ill. (By the way, he was more upset with them doctors messing with his sister, than he was with them messing with him! Such a good big brother he is!) Well, the swabbed both of their throats for strep (negative) and as they were coming in to give me the results, Gavin VOMITED all over himself (and his mommy). Again, I warned you! So, with the combination vomiting, diarrhea, and his blood pressure meds (captopril) they wanted him to go straight to the Pediatric ER at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Apparently if you get a little dehydrated while taking Captopril, it can cause Kidney damage or failure faster than normal. So to the ER we went (after dropping Kami off with her Daddy. Luke spent the day with his best bud Asher). Gavin was NOT feeling well. He was a very clingy (he had a 102.6 fever when we got there, that he didn't have at the after hours clinic), but after a chicken nugget, he sat in the waiting room watching Monsters, Inc. After they called us back, they decided to check his urine for a UTI, because of the severeness of the diarrhea. It was awful to watch them cath him :(. But, once that was over, he colored in his Sesame Street color book, and watched Harry Potter until the results came back in. He does have a UTI, so they gave him a prescription, and wrote follow up orders for him to go to his Pedi this week. They want him to have an ultrasound of the kidneys after he is better, I'm presuming to make sure there is no damage. So, that was our Saturday. How was yours?
